Yesterday was the first of my autumn storytelling events with ‘Hags, Witches & Wild Women’, at Butser Ancient Farm, and what an afternoon it was! Two sell out shows with fellow storyteller Jason Buck.
Almost 200 in total gathered around the fire in the great roundhouse known as Little Woodbury and it was great to be back in this space telling stories again. The audience were treated to witch stories from Scotland and England, with shapeshifting hares, clay dragons, warlocks, cunning women, cailleachs and moons made of cheese for a ninety minute matinee and a two hour evening show.
Thank you to all who came and listened, joined in, chatted and made the evening magical. Hags, witches and wild women all! A great start to a season of stories, open fires, mist and magic.
I’ll be back, telling stories at Butser, for the sell out Boat Burn next week, their Book Festival in October (1130, Saturday 19th) and Yuletide telling in December.
