Our summer holiday this year saw us return to the wonderful Cumbrian fells. I spent much of my teenage years walking this land, even sleeping on the top of Helvellyn for the Summer Solstice, one year. Now, almost 30 years later, I’m no longer as fit as I once was and whilst I walk regularly, these walks are ambles and time passed in nature rather than climbing mountainous peaks, so when we decided we would all climb Catbells, it was with a little trepidation on my part.
