The Olive Harvest
The arable crops have been gathered and the fruit in the hedgerows is coming to an end, but there is still plenty to harvest.
The pumpkins lie waiting in the fields, the grape harvest is in full swing and the peak time for the olive harvest is October.
The olive tree is a hardy evergreen, drought resistant and productive for thousands of years. Olives are typically associated with the Mediterranean, in particular Italy and Greece but they are also grown in South Africa, Chile, Peru, Pakistan, Australia, Oregon, California and New Zealand.
