I spent the day medieval sleeping. Dozing, completing a chore, dozing, eating, dozing, cooking. Admittedly this usually happens in the winter when the light is at a premium, and in the dark of the early evening there is nothing for it but to drift in and out of sleep and conserve the candlelight for necessary tasks. However, this was the hottest (in the UK at least) and longest day in the year. The day with the most light and the shortest night.
At 2am on the 21st June, I would be telling stories at the top of Butser Hill to entertain the walkers who had completed an epic 11 mile Dusk ‘til Dawn walk, an event organised by Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Churchers College. Stories were to start at 230am and the druids of the Sylvan Grove would be joining us to drum up the sun at 440am. It was going to be magical!
