Stories of The Sun & Moon - Litha - Long Meg And Her Daughters

A Story For Litha
4

Merry Met folks, some of you will know that last year I recorded a series of stories for The Village, a spiritual lifestyle platform. I am now sharing these stories as a limited series podcast and as we follow the wheel of the year I will be sharing folktales from the English and Scandinavian traditions that focus on the sun and the moon, the light and the dark, the day and the night.

Litha celebrates the longest day in the year, the point where the sun reaches its zenith and stands still fir just a moment. For thousands of years the people who walked the landscape of Britain have celebrated this moment, potentially b gathering together at sacred sites in the form of stone circles. To those living in the Middle Ages, these circles were an enigma and because of this many stories grew around the circles. Stories of wizards, kings and magical cows, curses, witches and dancing women. This story takes a look at one of those stone circles in order to celebrate the sun.
